Lucy, I’m Home!
By Corvus | June 27, 2005
I would say that the Carnival of Gamers III was a great success! Thanks to all the carnies who contributed and all the folks who visited (especially if you’re not back to see how things normally go here at Man Bytes Blog). Remember that CoG IV will be hosted at Cathode Tan on July the 7th, so submit your posts to carniegrue [at] gmail [dot] com if you’d like to be included! For more information on Once and Future Carnivals, visit the Carnival of Gamers HQ over at button mashing. I’ll be contacting Foton about his prize, although voter turn out was really quite low. If I do that again, perhaps I’ll add a poll or something. That might make it easier for folks to vote.
So, I’ve been sitting on some ideas to natter on about. It was actually kind of nice to have a forced break for a bit, but by yesterday afternoon, I was itching to post! So, like a cork held under water, I expect there will be a flurry of activity early this week, before it settles back out to a normal schedule.
Today’s sketch is another editorial cartoon, but it’s wider than my posting area, so you’ll need to click here, or on the thumbnail below, to open it. I’ve been wondering about the motivations behind the recent flurry of attacks on the game industry and while I don’t think they’re as straight forward as I put forth in this comic, I wouldn’t be surprised to find a modicum of truth in it. It probably has more to do with deflection of attention from the middle east, and the frantic scrambling of the moral “majority” to push as much of their agenda through now, because surely we’re not going to be so foolish as to elect a wing nut republican president again next term.
I’m still not 100% happy with my “chosen” medium of comic presentation. I should probably get more comfortable inking and laying down color. That, or figure out how to whip out decent 3d characters and toon render them… an idea which holds great appeal to my Artistic Aesthetic Self, if not my Scheduling and Task Management Self .
