    Wii News

    By Corvus | January 26, 2007

The Wii News channel is live as of this morning and after a brief download, I got the opportunity to give it a quick once over. The interface is nowhere near as convenient as an RSS reader, but it’s a fun toy. You can select a type of news you’re interested in from listings such as National, International, Entertainment, etc. Once viewing articles, you can click on a globe (the same globe featured in the Forecast Channel) and spin it around, seeing stacks of news on their respective cities. Perhaps the neatest feature (and this is telling) is that when you zoom in and out on an article, the words fly around the page and re-conform themselves to the new page width.

The AP is providing the news, so you’d think there would be better coverage. Madison has news articles, Minneapolis/St. Paul do not. The US has a lot of coverage, as does Europe and Japan, but Africa and the Middle East was not populated with any articles at all. Perhaps coverage will improve with time.

More news (of the usual MBB variety) at 12:06.
