    Win A Free Game!

    By Corvus | April 22, 2008

There are still a few beta test seats open for Renown. I need people willing to commit to 3 or 4 play sessions over the next six months. You also need to commit to collecting and reporting player feedback (I’ll be providing a short questionnaire (both an online and print version) for you to have them fill out).

Official testers get to keep their copy of the beta deck, get their name in the manual and will receive a full copy of the final game, including a handsomely illustrated deck, printed manual and 108 Renown markers.

If you’re interested, please fill out this form and get it back to me (scanned, faxed, whatever) by the end of the day on Friday the 25th. I plan to mail out all beta decks on Monday.

If you’re not interested in committing to a specific number of play sessions, or receiving a free copy of the beta deck, you can still be an Unofficial Tester. Early next week I’ll be posting a template for printing a deck of black and white business card sized cards and sharing some other ideas for cobbling together your own deck from standard playing cards. The gameplay manuals will also be made freely available. Unofficial testers who share their experiences on the PJ’s Beta Team mailing list and get each of their players to provide feedback will be entered to win official tester status. This means that they’ll also get their name in the manual and a free copy of the final game! Each player response an unofficial testers submits adds another entry in the contest, so the more you test and the more feedback you get… the higher the chances of your winning!

All testing positions–official and unofficial–are open to people living in any country.

If you have any questions about the testing, please don’t hesitate to contact me and let me know!

I’m just trying to figure out how many play sessions I can commit to. 3-4 is very doable, I think. The form will be forthcoming. Post the rules already! :-P

Looks like the adobe acrobat here at work doesn’t like the form fields in the pdf. I’ll fill it in tonight after I talk to wife. I wasn’t sure until last night that I could commit to playing (but it sounds like I can now!)

OK, I thought i posted here. But I plan on sending you the PDF tonight, if you still need testers. I finally talked to everyone who would be involved, and can commit to hosting some games now:)

This is doable, but I should probably be unofficial to save the pretty decks for the professionals.

The Husband’s D&D group has a sub-group that prefers story over game mechanics and will play any card game that crosses their path (the rest of the group requires a d20 to go to the bathroom). I am sure they would try it just because it is something new and different.

I would like to try it with The Boy, and his core group of friends, which would certainly make an interesting addendum to the core market data, and could be helpful in penetrating educational markets.
