Q: Can I track new BoRT entries without revisiting your site?
A: Absolutely! There are several methods of following new Round Table entries:
- Delicious: Round Table tag
- Twitter: #bort hashtag
- Facebook: Man Bytes Blog
- RSS: Corvus’ Shared Feeds (fair warning: this is not just BoRT entries)
Q: Who can participate in the Blogs of the Round Table (BoRT)?
A: Well, you can for one. All you need is a blog, an opinion on the month’s topic, and a willingness to share that opinion with the rest of us.
Q: How do I get my BoRT post included?
A: It’s a simple two step process, although the first step varies depending on your blogging platform.
Step 1:
a) If you host your own Wordpress blog, download the official BoRT Plugin and follow the instructions for including the drop-down list at the bottom of your post. If you don’t wish to install a plugin, skip to option c).
b) If you have a Wordpress.com hosted blog, include the following code at the bottom of your post, replacing #MMYY with the two digit month and year (i.e. #0209).
Please visit the Blog of the Round Table's <a title="Blogs of the Round Table" href="http://corvus.zakelro.com/round-table/#MMYY">main hall</a> for links to the rest of this month's entries.
c) For all other blog platforms, include the following code at the bottom of your post, replacing MMYY with the two digit month and year (i.e. 0209) and CCCCCC with the HTML color value of your post background (i.e. FFFFFF).
<p style="text-align: center;">
<iframe frameborder="0" height="64" width="256" marginheight="8" marginwidth="8" scrolling="no" title="Blogs of the Round Table" src="http://blog.pjsattic.com/roundtable.php?rtMON=MMYY&bgcolor=CCCCCC">Please visit the Blogs of the Round Table's <a title="Blogs of the Round Table" href="http://corvus.zakelro.com/round-table/">main hall</a> for links to all entries.</iframe>
</p>
Step 2:
Let me know your post is up and I’ll make sure you get included in the drop down list.
Q: How do I find the RGB value of my background?
A: It may be declared in the body tag of you site, or it might be in the CSS. If it’s in the CSS and is only 3 digits, you must type each digit twice. So, if your background color is listed as b93, you must replace CCCCCC with bb9933). If you have no idea what I’m talking about, send an e-mail to Man Bytes Blog with a link to your site. I’ll find the information for you.
Q: How can I let visitors to my blog know I’m a contributor to the Blogs of the Round Table?
A: We have two different styles of BoRT badges you can download for use on your blog. Each badge is available in three different sizes.
